the masses, another big web event happened today, the relaunch of healthcare.gov day two. it marks the official restart of the obama care era and the day the window finally closed for good for republicans trying to kill the thing. from the day obama was elected president, republicans have been determined to block health care reform. they got scott brown elected. they took the law all the way to the supreme court, voted dozens of times to defund or repeal it, shut down the government for 16 days, and obama care survived all of it. irony is that while republicans couldn't kill obama care, the administration almost could. >> good evening. president obama now finds himself compared to president george w. bush, as in the problems with the health care plan have become president obama's katrina. >> but today, the website is now fixed enough that it looks like obama care is really here to stay. the repeal strategy is dead and obama care is out of the icu. according to the administration, the error message rate for the front end of the website is less than 1%. that's down from about 6% last

the website, healthcare.gov. before i talk about the law and its benefits, let me tell you about a visit i made to the emergency room on a friday night recently with one of my boys after he broke his left arm. the care was excellent. so much of our emergency trauma and specialized care is. what was remarkable to me is not the care that my son got as grateful as i am, but rather the crying of two babies i heard in their emergency room being treated for asthma. dramatic asthma attacks. i cannot know for sure whether those babies were insured or not. if they did have coverage and the access to primary care that comes with such coverage, chances are it would have been far less likely to be getting emergency care for something like asthma on a friday night in the emergency room. my heart broke for those parents. they seek care for their suffering child in the emergency room. we are talking about asthma, something increasingly and sadly common, but also fundamentally treatable. health-care coverage, with millions receiving cancellation notices, and millions more facing premium rate shock, and others left to wonder if their applications on healthcare.gov or even successful. this morning where going to focus on how the health care could be affected by the changes in the president's health care plan. the president's health care law cut over $700 billion from the already struggling medicare program to fund the flawed new entitlement. included in the cuts were over $300 billion in direct and indirect cuts to the medicare advantage program, and many of these cuts start in 2014. medicare's managed care program currently provides coverage for more than 14 million americans, over a quarter of all medicare beneficiaries. these patients choose medicare advantage plans over traditional medicare for a variety of reasons, including improved cost-sharing, enhance benefits, better care coordination, and higher quality of care. millions of americans, especially those with lower incomes, medicare advantage is a better option for delivering their care, and frankly their choice. wh
